Peace

God offers us true peace in the midst of any situation in life. Will we take it?

Today I wanted to share a verse that I go to frequently when worried about work or just feeling overwhelmed. I hope that it can be an encouragement to you too.

You keep him in perfect peace
whose mind is stayed on you,
because he trusts in you.
Isaiah‬ ‭26:3‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Chances are, you wouldn’t describe your life as peaceful. Between work and life, I personally find it is hard to make time to rest, let alone be at peace.

And that’s why I need this verse so much. It doesn’t say that we’ll have peace once all the situations in life are worked out, but that we can have peace here and now, no matter what’s going on.

Additionally, it doesn’t just promise peace, but perfect peace, the kind of peace which supersedes our other concerns and that can only be found in God.

But the key in all of it is how we attain this peace. It isn’t by working harder or taking on less, but what we purposefully think about. When our mind is stayed on the Lord, it naturally leads to trust, because we remember who he is, and can see our life in the right perspective.

This isn’t easy or natural, but it’s a promise that we must remember, as it’s the only way we can take on daunting vocational challenges without being crushed by them.

May you find peace this week as you remember that God can be trusted, and is with you no matter what you’re facing.
